Personally, I never really compare the two ladies where talent is concerned. They both have different styles, and both are very talented.
Kristin has been very well trained (mostly in Opera), whereas Bernadette has more hands-on experience. To say that Bernadette "Towers over Kristin" in regards to talent is a little one-sided.
I would actually love to hear or see them do something together; because their styles are so different...yet they do the same work.

BUT...I'm going to be churlish and say that both women have recorded the old Harry Warren song "You'll Never Know". If you listen to them back to back, Kristin's is a pleasantly sung rendition of a nice old standard. Bernadette makes it new, tells a story, and moves you to tears. That's the difference.

Where is Bernadette's recording of "You'll Never Know"? one of the great songs of all time and one I've hoped would go in a Peters' album of great standards some day. Whereszit?

From: northern VA | posted: 4/14/2004 at 11:29:08 AM ET I believe there is room for all types of talent in the performing arts.
And I believe that Kristin Chenoweth has a wonderful gift and talent that will just continue to grow.
This does not,in any way, diminish Bernadette's extraordinary gift.
These are two completely different women with different styles, backgrounds, etc. How wonderful that the arts are so enriched with diversity.

The CD Chip refers to is wonderful. You can get it on amazon.com. Here is a picture of the CD cover (the one with the pink background "Bernadette", 1992). The 1992 release date is deceptive--the CD is a compilation of 2 of her older (1980??) recordings.

When I handed it to her, she looked at it for a moment and turned it over a few times going "Oooooh! Wow!" before she put a big gorgeous autograph in silver pen over the top of it. It looks great!
